U12-ALPINE RACING PROGRAM – (AGE 10 -11 YEARS OLD)

Program:

The U12 Racing Program continues to promote a love of skiing and ski racing through the all-terrain skiing in fun environment while introducing ski racing technique and tactics. Training includes all-mountain skiing, drills, and gate training. At this level, the skier will discover and develop individual skiing and racing styles while continuing to refine their technical skills. The competitions of the U12 group consist of at home events and at ski resorts in southern BC. The fundamentals of Giant Slalom and Slalom are the focus throughout the season and are part of the fun for the U12’s racing program.

All coaches are certified by the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and have racing experience.

U12 Schedule:

U12 Regular Program – the program runs on Saturdays and Sundays 8.30am-3 pm. The program will run from Dec. 27th 2018 until mid-April 2019.

U12 Extended Program – the program runs Friday 5pm-8pm, Saturdays and Sundays 8.30am – 3pm. The sessions will start on November 25th, 2018 and will include one day sessions at resorts already open for the season, and the Fall Ski Camp at Apex Mountain Resort.

Program Fees:

U12 Regular Program fee is $1180for the season. The early bird registration fee is $1075 for the season. The early bird registration deadline is November 25th, 2018.

U12 Extended Program fee is $1,355 for the season. The early bird registration fee is $1,230 for the season. The early bird registration deadline is November 25th, 2018.

The BC Alpine fee of $76 per child.

All fees, registration forms, ACA form, code of conduct and volunteer form must be paid and submitted before the first day on the snow.

Requirements:

Families are responsible for child’s equipment including a hard shell helmet covering ears, as well as a lift pass. Athletes new to the sport should consult with the Alpine Coordinator about equipment and programming.

Pre season lift passes can be found at  Sasquatch Mountain Resort before Oct 31, 2018.

Program:

The U14 Program is focused on mastering fundamental skiing skills, while introducing athletes to more specific ski racing techniques.  This program is for kids that love to ski and race. The program is provided in a dynamic team environment and is designed to inspire, challenge and motivate young athletes to get the most out of their training. A stronger commitment to the sport by the athlete is part of the U14’s growth.  Athletes learn age appropriate slalom, giant slalom and speed technical skills to enhance their racing and skiing skill.

All coaches are certified by the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and have racing experience.

U14 Schedule:

U14 Program – the program runs Friday 5pm-8pm, Saturdays and Sundays 8.30am – 3pm. The sessions will start in mid-November 2017 and will include one day sessions at ski resorts already open for skiing, until the Hemlock Resort opens, and the Fall Ski Camp at Apex Mountain Resort. The season is concluded by Whistler Cup race in mid-April 2019.

Program:

The program is designed to inspire and challenge racers who love to compete to perform at the next level. This program continues to emphasize fundamental slalom and giant slalom techniques, utilizing creative drills in and out of the gates, while at the same time introducing racers to speed event (super giant slalom) training and racing. The athletes are encouraged to attend many races to test their skills against other Zone racers and at the Provincial level.

U16/18 Schedule:

U16/U18 Program – the program runs Friday 5pm-8pm, Saturdays and Sundays 8.30am – 3pm. The sessions will start in mid-November 2018 and will include one day sessions at ski resorts already open for skiing, until the Hemlock Resort opens, and the Fall Ski Camp at Apex Mountain Resort. The season concludes in mid-April 2019.

The 2018/19 Ski Season is now over but there are 2 more events happening for our Alpine Team athletes. Mt Washington is the place for the Coast Zone Tech Finals for athletes U12 – U19, April 6 & 7th. And Whistler Cup for our U14’s takes place the following week April 11 – 14th. Good luck to all our athletes in their final races of the season!
